An honest and sensible post about drugs.

Sensibly and well written. Having worked in an ER trauma center for 7 years i can tell you alcohol is much more destructive tot he individual and others than a little hit of ghanja, and heroine the worst of all. Nowadays in this country prescription narcotics kids steal and resell from gramma’s medicine cabinet is the bane of the poor, unemployed, bored part of society, though that is hip with richer kids too. I guess i will risk the DEA coming to my door by reblogging this in the US lol. Blessings.

drugs

I had intended to write a fairly humorous post called “Sophie’s Scary Bong” in which I would talk about how Sophie corrupted me and reintroduced me to the pleasures of weed with her her bong, which is indeed a scary looking piece of equipment.

Sbong

But then as we were discussing the post Sophie and I realised that in many people’s opinion you can’t really talk openly about this subject and certainly not with any sense of reality. We have friends in other countries who would never talk about the various substances they use for various reasons for fear that some kind of authority may be monitoring what they write. Perhaps they do…

So let’s start from the beginning. There is so much misinformation and hypocrisy about drugs. We grow up in a world where drugs exist in a kind of twilight world between reality and fantasy, between legality and illegality…

Floats the Dark Shadow…Gilles de Rais collides with Belle Epoque Paris

Right up my dark alley, a review of a book i hope to read someday….

The Haunted Palace

Floats the Dark Shadow by Yves Fey

BookMark-329x500I couldn’t resist reviewing this delicious little indie-published mystery thriller from the very artistic pen of Yves Fey.

Floats the Dark Shadow is sub-titled ‘A Mystery of Paris’ and that seems apt as Fey has captured the romance and the contradictions of that famous city so well. The novel is set during the supreme decadence of the Belle Époque, the late 1890’s, when Paris having survived the turmoil and bloodshed of the Commune era, stood on the cusp of the modern age.

Theodora Faraday is a young American artist and feminist, living in Montmartre.  She spends her days  framing Montmartre in oils and pastels as she wanders the Bohemian streets accompanied by the Revenants – a group of poetic-types in search of inner darkness.  But be under no illusions, this is not a fluffy romance novel, this is a very dark story of murder…

Self Interview: A Portrait in Words

Here is a very revealing post, written from the heart, from one of my favourite bloggers, Valentina. Enjoy!

Addendum – She said in a comment it needed updated so refer to her About page for a later profile.

Valentina's Reflections

I thought long and hard over the questions I would answer as an introduction to myself.  It’s like creating a self portrait, but in words.  I had to edit down some of my answers because I can tend to go on and on and…  lose track of time, and purpose, and energy to the point where I soon find myself asleep with my face pressed into the paper of the blank journal I keep at my bedside.  I want to write with a purpose.  I want to make not just a good first impression, but an enduring one that shows a true reflection of my personality. I want to make friends.  I like to talk about myself and share the stories I have to tell that I think are really awesome.  I think you will like me and what I have to say.  I have a lot to share!  So…

A Few Weeks in the life of an Appalachian Witch early to mid November 2014

A few weeks in the life of an Appalachian Witch.

Ran into a worker at the local hardware who had this tat which in Korean means i think “the crazy life”. Loved it. LOL  12-16 Nov 2014 (16)

Got zero sleep, drove north to visit several people, arrived at dawn at Lady EWH’s place and she had this cool fake flame of paper waving upwards in a cauldron hanging in the dawn window and thought it pretty cool.

12-16 Nov 2014 (19)

Still having no sleep i ventured on to Council Cup, the large mountain overlooking Wapwallopen where the Covenstead was. I had not been up there for decades when Lady Phoebe took me and our Priestess up to teach us how to draw the wind. It is a beautiful cold windy day with quite the view and directly across from the nuclear power plant so i got my glow on LOL. I tried to nap there unsuccessfully.

The onwards once again to Dr Santee’s grave (see videos in separate posts) and i took a few other pics of interesting markers and especially liked the quotes on a few below.

Finally it was late enough in the am that i stopped by Lady Persephone’s house and was graciously invited in. She is slowly getting rid of some of the large amount of books her late husband Don collected, since he worked at a book bindery, and she gave me a few and showed me the inside of Dr Santee’s “The Devil’s Wager” that he gave her with this writing and signature inside. Sorry i cannot make the image clearer.

Here are some pics of Don’s grave. He was a Veteran so has a flag. They cannot afford a tombstone yet so have this metal cat up. I printed out these pics and will mail them to her since she has never been up there d/t a stroke which affected her movements but not her mind which is clear as a bell. I think the cat is a fitting memorial to a member of the Coven of the Catta and stuck the periwinkle flower on its head.

I visited Lady Alsace but she was not home. I was So looking forward to taking a nap there. So i drove home exhausted, almost ran off the road, pulled over and took a power nap. A cop knocked on my window and said someone reported my erratic driving, which i am glad they did, but like i said i got it and pulled off myself. He pulled the ole familiar “i smell alcohol” line and did a breathalyzer test which was negative and i took another power nap then was carefully on my way home once again. Thank the Goddess i did not wreck and hurt someone. I will Never do that one again….
Don’t faint – this old hippie finally put out a SA flag for Veteran’s Day. God/ess bless those who have given their lives and served to preserve our freedoms.
